Software Spotlight:

Virtual Box
Hello, and welcome to a Software Spotlight
Review! What is a Software Spotlight
Review? A Software Spotlight is when I take
a great product (aiming to be always
freeware), and tell great things about it!
Well, let’s get started with the review!
Supported Operating Systems:
Virtual Box supports most of the OS’s to install guest
additions. For Windows, just run the executable, for Linux
(Ubuntu) just mount the image, open terminal, and type in
this:
cd /media/cdrom
Then type this:
ls
Then look for the right .run file, if you have x86 version, run the x86
version, so type this:
sudo ./(the file you have to run).run
Where it says “(the file you have to run)” type in the file name of the
.run file, remember it’s cAsE sEnSiTiVe!
You can install Virtual Box on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Features:
Virtual Box has many features, like USB support, full screen (for
Windows don’t know about Linux or Mac), and it can open your
virtual hard disks from Microsoft Virtual PC, and VMWare! In my
opinion, Virtual Box is way better then Microsoft Virtual PC! It also
has mouse integration, but all of the other virtual programs have
that, and it can support Ubuntu’s eye candy.
So, What’s the Catch?
I wouldn’t call it a catch, but just make sure you don’t overuse your
RAM, for example, your Ubuntu uses 1GB of RAM, and your
Windows Vista hogs up like 2GB, and you have 3GB of RAM, which
will cause your computer to freeze, well you shouldn’t get that if
you’re careful with how you use Virtual Box.
Ok, I think this is Good (or Bad), how
much does it cost?
Well, it’s FREE! Yep, free, opensource, and it’s by Sun, the people
who made Java, OpenOffice, and OpenSolaris.
I want it, where can I get it?
You can get at:
